Volunteers are the life blood of foodbanks. Your skills could be just what we need.

Volunteers are the driving force behind foodbanks. There are thousands of volunteers across the UK, helping The Trussell Trust Foodbank Network get emergency food to people in crisis. We want you to enjoy volunteering and there are lots of ways to get involved. Whatever role you choose, you will make a real difference to the life of someone in crisis.

We need the following help:-

BOX FILLERS

The Forest Foodbank need Box fillers to work out of the Lydney and Cinderford Distribution centres. This role is physically demanding and requires fit and able volunteers. You will work Approx 2 hours a month and at a time suitable to you. This role is flexible and can fit around your other commitments.

The role includes:

  • Taking the empty boxes from the Distribution centres at Lydney and Cinderford and taking them back to the Warehouse
  • Refilling the boxes and returning them to the Distribution centres ensuring they are ready for the next session at the Foodbank in question.
  • Weighing in any donations received and making a note of the weight
  • Full training will be provided
  • Mileage will be paid

FOODBANK OPERATIVES

 

We need Foodbank operatives to work at our Cinderford distribution centre on a Tuesday Morning. For approx. 2 hours a month but the role does require some adhoc work and flexibility in covering for team members.

FOODBANK WAREHOUSE OPERATIVE

The Forest Foodbank need Warehouse Operatives that can volunteer approx. 2 hours a month to help at the Warehouse. This role is physically demanding so we require fit and able volunteers. The role includes.

 

  • Checking best by dates of received food donations
  • Stock rotation and itemisation
  • Ensuring the shelves are fully stocked
  • Volunteering adhoc as and when the situation arises
  • Volunteering at Annual Stock takes and busy times of the Year. Harvest/Christmas
  • Supporting the Warehouse Manager.
